I certainly appreciate a wide variety of music, and like most people I have my favorite genres. However, I am always amazed when I see how some forms of music have transcended generations. The group that comes to mind first and foremost is The Beatles. It is a gross understatement to say that ‘The Band that Rocked the World’ has a following.

My son had the opportunity to take a course in ‘The Music of the Beatles’ at Washington University in St. Louis. This is a very popular course that is actually not easy to get into and, not surprisingly, has a waiting list. Today my son is a medical student, and thanks to this class he is now also quite knowledgeable about the cultural impact the Beatles had in music. He is passionate about the Beatles, and how they influenced music, perhaps his all time favorite band. Therefore, my son and I share a favorite band, and coming from two different generations we both have an appreciation for the same songs and same music. It is no wonder indeed why there are so many Beatles fans worldwide, and why their collectables appeal to so many people in so many different age groups.

My brother Eddie the Pen Man informed me that Acme Studio was introducing a new limited edition Beatles Collection of pens, card cases, eyeglass cases and watches. As a major worldwide Pen Retailer, it made perfect sense to invest into this venture. Therefore, we committed heavily to the entire edition of the Beatles pens, and collectables. Adrian Olabuenaga and Lesley Bailey, husband and wife founders of Acme Studio formed a licensing agreement with Apple Corps, Ltd. to create their interpretation of this affordable memorabilia. The quality and detail in each of these products is utterly amazing considering the price. The bottom line is you get your money’s worth if you buy it now, before they become sold-out editions. Like anything in the world of collectables, as the products are sold out and off the general market, the collectors establish the price. That price then becomes, whatever the market will bear (WTMWB)!

The concept behind this collection is to capture the essence of the Beatles evolution over each of the 9 years the Beatles performed together as a group (1962-1970). Each product so accurately depicts the ever changing progression of their music from the first Rock ‘n Roll years through the ballad years, psychedelic era and various genres the Fab Four mastered.

The limited edition Rollerball pens come in editions of 1,962 through 1,970 worldwide based on the year the series commemorates. The pen includes an attractive Beatles black presentation box, a must save for any collector, especially if you ever choose to resale. The original Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is only $98, yet I assure you this price will continue to rise once the Pen Dealers are sold out, and the collectors have the opportunity to drive the price upward.

The limited edition series also includes 13 pen and card case sets. These are cleverly packaged in mini Beatles album covers, and the MSRP is only $130.00. The significance of the number 13 is that represents the number of United Kingdom albums the Beatles produced. These Rollerball Pen and Card Case sets are limited to 1,000 worldwide, of each of the 13 series.

Now for the serious collector, there are a few releases of limited edition sets that consist of four pens, one for each of the Beatles, John, Paul, George, and Ringo. The first release set includes one fountain pen, one Rollerball pen, one ballpoint pen, and one felt-tip pen, yet each is interchangeable as you prefer. The first edition of this limited edition set of four is packaged in a beautiful black Beatles collectable box and there were only 600 sets made worldwide. The original MSRP on this four piece set is $450, yet the first four piece Beatles pen set is already sold out at the time of this article. We have acquired two sets from collectors who are now selling this same set at $650 each for the four piece set. Both of these sets are in the original package, never been inked, and in brand new mint condition. This descriptor is the favorite reference and popular requirement among the rarified world of pen collectors.

The fourth release limited edition set, is the Liverpool set with four different types of pens, exactly as configured above. This set has a MSRP of $500, yet we have a few more in stock as this edition was released later than the first four piece set referenced. However, based on previous sales we anticipate these sets will join the sold-out editions quite soon. If possible, it is advisable to buy now before the price is driven upwards by the aftermarket collectors, exactly what happened to the first release version of the four piece set referenced above.

One of our very popular sets is The Beatles Invasion set, and there are only 1, 964 sets worldwide. As most Beatles fans have already figured out, 1964 is the year The Beatles arrived in the United States. This includes one Pen that has a convertible feature allowing you to convert this pen to a fountain pen or Rollerball pen as you prefer. This set has a MSRP of $120.00. This was the first set that we had to re-order before they became a sold out edition. We underestimated the popularity of this pen, yet it seems to be one of the best values of the collectables considering that you can use this collectable as either a Fountain or Rollerball Pen.

For the watch lover, Acme Studio also created limited edition Beatles watches which range in MSRP from $140 to $160 depending on the face size. Each watch is individually numbered and comes in editions of 1,000 each. The watches are manual wind, water resistant up to 150 feet and also come with a collectable presentation box. Finally, if you are a Beatles fan and want to pick up something affordable for anybody’s budget, you might consider the Beatles eyeglass cases which are only $35.00. The eyeglass cases are not limited or numbered, yet quite an impressive case for the money.

If you are an avid Beatles fan like many of us, perhaps you will find these above referenced Beatles Pens, Card Cases, Timepieces, and eyeglass cases would make an excellent addition to your personal collection or a very memorable gift. I hope this article helps describe the world of collectible Beatles memorabilia created by Acme Studio.
